The Artistry of Internet Censorship

With CISPA (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) starting to make headlines in recent days I thought it only appropriate to take a look back at how well SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) were received by the online community.

Hundreds of websites including Google, Wikipedia and WordPress blacked out in creative ways in protest. SOPA and PIPA would have provided the government and Hollywood the authority to shut down or completely remove websites deemed to be "facilitating the commission" of copyright infringement.

Those of us who prefer an open web saw this as an act of censorship and as much as I would like to go on a rant, this particular article isn't centered around the specifics or my view on the subject. There are plenty of those articles covering this already.
