Rogers Spotlight Series - Workforce Development and Labor Shortages

This is the fourth session in the Spotlight Series for 2022, which aims to bring the right people together at the right moment to ignite creativity, inspire ideas, and unite our community around common goals. Every quarter, a different theme is highlighted to highlight progress and reveal concerns that represent opportunities for developing company, activating high-impact leaders, and building a strong and diverse location to visit, live, invest, work, and play.

The most pressing concerns confronting our local business sector are workforce development and labor shortages. Employers, both large and small, in all economic sectors are feeling the strain of having available positions with no qualified candidates. What steps can be taken to address these concerns? What is the Chamber and our local educators doing to address this issue and assist our business community?

The 4th Quarter Spotlight Series will help address these and other questions. This event will feature a panel discussion moderated by Kyle Kellams (News Director with KUAF and creator of Ozarks at Large) featuring Dr. Jeff Perry (Superintendent of Rogers Public Schools), Dr. Dennis Rittle (President of Northwest Arkansas Community College), and Dr. Joe Rollins (Director of Workforce Development for the NWA Council) discussing workforce development efforts throughout the region. Discussion topics will include how the problem arose, current efforts to remedy it, and what more can be done in the future. This is also an excellent opportunity to meet the new educational leadership for Rogers Public Schools and NWACC.
