Doc4 had the honor of being commissioned by the fantastic folks at Opcode Games to undertake the creation of a meticulously detailed, vectorized cover design for their much-anticipated re-release of Yie Ar Kung-Fu for the ColecoVision platform. The artwork, drawing inspiration from the original MSX game of identical nomenclature, demanded a thorough approach. Through the utilization of large-scale, painstakingly detailed scans of the original game labels, manuals, and box art, we embarked on a journey to craft a flawless reproduction. This reproduction served as the cornerstone for the updated game labels, manuals, and box art, ensuring that every aspect of the presentation exuded authenticity and reverence for the classic.
This re-release was a labor of love aimed at preserving the essence of a classic for contemporary audiences. While the initial release was limited, enthusiasts still have the opportunity to acquire copies through platforms like eBay, where they occasionally surface, or opt for the digital route by obtaining a ROM file, ensuring that the legacy of Yie Ar Kung-Fu continues to thrive in the modern gaming landscape.
