General Electric approached our development partners seeking proof of concept for a mobile application that would assist consumers in selecting the correct replacement light bulbs. We were tasked us with creating a compelling visual design for this application.
The biggest obstacle consumers face when shopping for new bulbs is the sheer number of options available. There are many different sizes each with a wide range of wattages and styles. Also, the increasing awareness in the consumer's mind about sustainable energy practices led to the inclusion of lighting standards information. GE wanted their customers to be able to narrow these options quickly and effectively to a more manageable range of options.
With so much important information packed into such a small package, we opted for a minimalist design focusing on absolute perfection in the informational hierarchy to create a friendly and readily navigable experience for the overwhelmed shopper.
